Chippewa (Ojibway) inspired Manitou Sculpture or Totem. Hand carved and assembled from local Basswood, Butternut, hand painted, fur, leather, beads, feathers, etc.
The Ojibway believe every animal has his or her own individual gifts and unique talents and powers. Animals were chosen as personal totems (or discovered through vision) by one who hoped to gain that animals' special abilities through emulating its behaviors and characteristics. Animals have the ability to sense changes of the world, seasonal changes, and the coming of things. Man does not have this foreknowledge.
Done originally as a custom piece for Bearcloud Gallery. Eagle is a totem of eloquence and communication skills which enable him or her to be a competent leader.
Approximately 24 inches from spear tip to tail. Numbered edition of 100, and signed by artists Kevin and Tanner Gadomski.
